How safe is the Burgas region?
The southern coast is among Europe's calm residential areas. According to Eurostat, Bulgaria records around 1.2 intentional homicides per 100,000 inhabitants per year nationwide — a low level, comparable with the wider EU; for the Burgas region, Eurostat's regional figures for burglary and robbery are well below those of many Western European metropolitan areas. In everyday terms that means relaxed living, evenings included. The usual caution applies, as anywhere, in the busy tourist zones at the height of summer.
