Annual real-estate tax in Bulgaria is paid in two equal instalments — by 30 June and by 31 October. For 2026 the second instalment is therefore due by the end of October. Those who pay the full year's tax by 30 April receive a 5% discount. Owners on the coast should keep the October deadline in mind.
On 30 September 2026 at 7 pm Dire Straits Legacy perform at the Burgas Summer Theatre as part of their farewell tour. The band includes musicians who shared the stage with Mark Knopfler, and the programme features the well-known Dire Straits hits. The date sits deliberately late in the season, at the end of September. Tickets are available through the regular advance sale.
Assessment: An international name at the end of September is exactly what the coast can use after high summer. For landlords, a programme like this extends demand into the shoulder season. Owner-occupiers who value the quieter autumn are still offered a highlight. I see it as evidence that Burgas plans culture across the whole run of the season.
The ninth edition of the international historical documentary film festival DOCK takes place in Burgas from 17 to 22 September 2026. It opens on 17 September at 7.30 pm at the «Neftochimik» cultural centre; all screenings are free of charge. For the first time there is a dedicated competition for short historical documentaries as well as an audience award. The opening film is «Sylvie Vartan. Out of Love» by director Emma Konstantinova.
Assessment: A festival with free entry says a lot about a city's cultural density, and that is a genuine location factor for year-round residents. I am glad to point interested buyers to such dates, because they show that Burgas stays alive outside the bathing season. For owner-occupiers it noticeably raises the quality of living.
