How clean is the bathing water on the southern coast?

The Bulgarian Black Sea coast regularly performs well on water quality. In the 2025 season 30 beaches and marinas along the coast carried the Blue Flag, the international eco-label of the FEE. It stands for excellent bathing water quality, verified safety, clean facilities and proper environmental management. The list also includes southern-coast spots, from Sunny Beach through Nessebar and Pomorie to Sozopol. On top of that, the state environment agency monitors the bathing waters continuously. The award is granted afresh each season and the number varies slightly. For buyers, clean, tested water on the doorstep simply means more quality of life, and a solid argument when letting.
