Sunny Beach and Golden Sands are international party and beach resorts, in terms of clientele and price level closest to Ibiza or Mallorca (Ballermann); they have little to do with authentic Bulgarian everyday life, and many locals avoid them. The gastronomy price level there matches the Spanish models. Nessebar's old town (a UNESCO site) is a beautiful exception with likewise high prices — similar to the worthwhile Sozopol, which Svetlana prefers. Golden Sands is also north of Varna, outside Svetlana's southern-coast area.
