Questions and answers · Places on the southern coast
Are there venomous or dangerous animals on land on the southern coast?
The situation matches that in the German-speaking countries. Two venomous snake species live here, the nose-horned viper and the common adder, and both also occur in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. There is also the Mediterranean centipede, whose bite is painful but not dangerous to healthy adults; it lives in Austria as well. In the woods, behave as you would at home: look where you step and where you reach. Walking barefoot across a meadow here is as harmless as in the Alpine foothills.
